This is a book about the art of the joke。 It portrays a series of 20th century Jewish comedians by combining three simple things - four jokes， a photograph and their original name。 Each， in their own way， are revealing。 Some of the jokes are stone cold classics and the images chosen are always illuminating。 A heartening book。
